How To Stencil A Designer Lamp Using the Fusion Stencil
Craft Stencils Make A Big Impact On Small Projects
Welcome back, my
Cutting Edge Stencils friends! We hope had you had a creative weekend filled with
stencils and awesome DIY projects. Sometimes a small craft project can instantly update a space when a big makeover is out of the question. For example, a unique lamp with splash of color and pattern can add a little wow to an ordinary space. Today we're going to show you how to stencil a designer lamp using one of our modern
craft stencils. Let's get started...
We'd like to introduce Scott, a DIY guru featured on
Hometalk and the blogger behind
Saws on Skates. Remember when we told you all about the
Hometalk #Shareathon? Well Scott was a participant and boy are we excited that he was because his project is amazing. Scott decided to focus on showing fans how a small project using stencils can make a big impact on a space. The first thing he did was browse the large collection of craft size stencils on our website and chose the
Fusion Craft Stencil, a funky geometric pattern.
Scott decided that he was going to stencil a lamp base but not just any lamp base, a custom made one. He has the free plans and the how-to featured on his site,
Saws on Skates. This is what he was starting with:
Once Scott had a base of a lamp, he painted it a pretty blue-green color using Behr Gem Turquoise.
Now he was ready to start stenciling! Scott placed the
Fusion Craft Stencil on the lamp base and used painter's tape to hold it in place.
He poured his Bittersweet Chocolate Brown acrylic craft paint onto a plate or paint tray. Then he lightly coated his
Dense Foam Roller and rolled off the excess paint onto a folded paper towel
Using a light amount of pressure, he rolled the paint onto the stencil.
Scott lifted the stencil to reveal the fun geometric pattern.
Once the entire lamp base was stenciled, he assembled his lamp. For assembly information, please check out Scott's
blog.
Are you ready to see how Scott's DIY designer lamp turned out? Here it is!
Scott had this to say about stenciling, "The instructions are easy to follow and the results are nothing less than AMAZING!" We totally agree that this small stencil project is very buzz-worthy.
Scott also comments, "This project looks complicated, but is easy to do. You too can have a designer looking lamp that you made yourself." That's awesome!
