Stencil Bohemian Wall Art Using Mandala Stencils
Good morning, my
Cutting Edge Stencils friends.
With some crafting supplies, like a stencil design, and a little imagination, you can create your own DIY wall art in no time! It's that easy. All you have to do is grab a blank canvas, select your favorite
stencil pattern, and make a one-of-a-kind wall art for your space. We're are happy to share a quick and easy wall art project using the
Prosperity Mandala Stencil that is sure to inspire. Come take a look...
We'd like to welcome back Angela, the creative DIYer and furniture makeover queen behind the blog
Number Fifty-Three. Angela loves to decorate her home. She was looking for something larger to hang above her mantel that would blend with her space. Since Angela also loves using Cutting Edge Stencils for her DIY projects, she was super excited when we released a gorgeous line of
Mandala Stencils. These patterns are perfect making DIY wall art! Angela browsed our new
Mandala Stencil collection and fell in love with the
Prosperity Mandala Stencil.
Angela purchased 1/2 inch plywood and cut it into a square. For the complete tutorial, please visit her blog
Number Fifty-Three. We're going to focus on the fun part,
stenciling! The first thing she did was paint the board using chalkboard paint. After the painted plywood was dry she positioned the 24 inch Mandala
stencil pattern on the top. Then she painted the pattern in metallic gold craft paint using a dense foam roller.
If you're trying to recreate this, pour your paint onto a plate or paint tray. Dip your dense foam roller into the paint. Roll off the excess paint onto your folded paper towel until the roller looks almost dry. The key to stenciling is using as little paint as possible. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed and smudge. Painter's tape can help hold the stencil in place.
A project like this is super easy and quick. Angela finished painting the stenciled design and she was ready to hang the hand-made piece of art above her mantel. Are you ready to see how it turned out? Here is her Prosperity Mandala stenciled artwork!
We absolutely love how Angela's custom wall art turned out! She had this to say about her project, "I'm really, really happy with my artwork and have a great feeling that even when I start moving things around for Christmas it will have a very strong presence somewhere in our home!"
