Stenciling a One of A Kind Headboard & Bedskirt
Stencils Can Pull A Bedroom Together In One Bold Statement
Good morning, my sleepyheads! Go ahead, allow yourself one last lazy yawn and a final stretch because after you see today's DIY stencil idea, you'll be bouncing out of bed. If you've considered your bedroom to be more of a bore-droom lately then maybe it's time for a stenciled makeover. Did you know that a simple project like stenciling a headboard and matching bedskirt can make one bold statement? Yup, it's true and if you don't believe us then you should take a look at this stenciled project.
We'd like you to meet Kimbo, the super creative DIYer behind the blog
A Girl And A Glue Gun. Now Kimbo is no stenciling newbie. In fact, you might remember her stenciled lampshade from this
post:
So cool, right? Her bedroom on the other hand, not as cool. Kimbo and her husband bought their house and then she says, "We stuck our king-sized bed in there and a bunch of random crap (a mod podge of past bedrooms.)" Here's what she started with before the makeover:
So what did the queen of stenciling do? First thing she did was hit up Pinterest to start crafting her dream bedroom. She wanted to turn her bedroom into a beautiful, neutral, and calming oasis. After careful planning, Kimbo decided stenciling a headboard and bedskirt was the perfect idea. She selected our
Hand Forged Allover Stencil, a beautiful geometric design that has been spotted on HGTV.
To start the project, Kimbo bought a beige colored, queen flat sheet for $9 at Walmart. She stenciled it using our
Hand Forged Allover pattern in a color similar to Benjamin Moore's
simply white OC-117. Then she cut off the skirt part of her preexisting bed skirt and replaced the three sides with pieces from the stenciled flat sheet. Once it was all sewed together, she was ready to put it back on her bed. But not before she created a matching headboard. Kimbo cut a large piece of cardboard to fit behind her bed and covered it with batting. Then she used a hot glue gun to adhere the finished stenciled fabric around the sides.
Are you ready to see her gorgeous stenciled headboard and matching bedskirt? Drumroll, please! Here it is and Kimbo totally loves her stenciled project.
Just in case you were looking for a close-up of her one of a kind bedskirt, here you go!
Now, Kimbo totally loves her newly stenciled headboard and bedskirt but she feels that her bedroom needs more color. She's just not sure what to do. Should she stencil a pillow, paint the furniture, or do you have another creative recommendation?
