I want you meet Audra, the crafty blogger behind
The Kurtz Corner. You might remember her from the last we featured one of her stencil projects
here. As Audra would tell you herself she's a glitter addicted, doggie lover, self proclaimed do-it-yourself-er with a passion for all things crafty. In other words, Audra rocks when it comes to thinkin' up new things to stencil! She's also the proud mama to a little pooch named Dixie. Adorable little Dixie had been using an old heart shaped pillow as her resting spot but unfortunately she had outgrown it. We all know those posh, designer looking dog beds can cost a small fortune. So Audra put her crafty noggin' to use and decided to make her pup a stylish dog bed for a fraction of the cost. Now she could have just bought a plain dog bed but Audra wanted to choose the fabric and make a custom size. As many of you know, we are big-time animal lovers here at Cutting Edge Stencils so we think this is just a FAB idea! Here is what she came up with... A beautiful and posh dog bed! Boy is Dixie one lucky dog! The best part about this is that it was inexpensive and super easy so even a first time stenciler could complete a project like this!
Material Checklist

1 yard of duck cloth (cotton) for the main pillow section

1/2 yard of duck cloth (cotton) for the side sections

Foam paint roller

Acrylic paint (either left over or small craft paint will work)

2 large bags of stuffing

Sewing machine

Thread

Painters tape

Scissors
Here's the 411 on how-to paint your own dog bed...
1. Decide how big of a dog bed you wish to create. Once you know the basic dimensions, you can buy the duck cloth or cotton from your local fabric store like Joann’s. To create a medium sized bed similar to Audra's make the main section is 23in x 24.5in and the side sections are 23in x 5in and 24.5in x 5in. You will need to cut two of each of these shapes for a total of six pieces. 2. Choose one of the main sections and secure the stencil with some painters tape. 3. Next pour some of the acrylic paint into a paper plate. Using a foam roller, carefully roll the paint over the stencil putting enough pressure on the roller so the paint adhered to the fabric, but not too much so the paint seeped under the stencil. 4. Once the first section was done, wait about 1-2 minutes and then carefully lift the stencil. Then you can use a small paintbrush to touch up any areas. Please note if you're making a larger bed or using a smaller stencil then you may have to reposition the stencil until your entire piece of cloth is painted. This is what it will look like when it's done- Totally ADORBS!!!
