Painted Pillows Using the Anemone Blossom Paint-A-Pillow Kit

Good morning, my crafty friends. Spring is in the air! At least that's what it says on our calendar. Regardless of cool weather, Cutting Edge Stencils wants you to consider brightening up your home with some Spring-inspired decor. Accent pillows are the easiest way to freshen up a space and our sister company, Paint-A-Pillow, makes creating DIY accent pillows super easy with their pillow kits. We'd like to introduce Sarah, the queen of crafting and a self-proclaimed glitter addict behind the blog Becoming Martha. Sarah is still feeling the winter blues even though the first day of spring has arrived. Winter just doesn't want to end this year. Determined to welcome the new season, Sarah decided to brighten up her home and allow spring to blossom inside. She said, "Pillows are one of my favorite ways to change up the colors and mood of a room – and conveniently enough, they happen to be really easy!" Makes perfect sense to us! Luckily, Sarah discovered Paint-A-Pillow at just the right time. She browsed the large collection of pillow patterns and carefully chose a beautiful floral, the Anemone Blossom. Then she selected white pillow covers and several Jacquard fabric paints to complete her project. Here is a sneak peek at what she created: From the cheerful colors to the beautiful floral pattern, these lovely accent pillows radiate Spring. Now let's talk about how you can recreate them. Sarah opened her Paint-A-Pillow box and was ready to start stenciling since the kit comes with all of the supplies needed. She placed her items in her crafting space and was ready to start her project. Sarah wanted to paint her floral pillow in a coral hue so she had to mix some of her fabric paints. To make the coral color she mixed 1 part each of red and orange and 3 parts white. Then she sampled the paint on the small birdie stencil included in the kit. We always include a small bird stencil and swatch of fabric to test prior to painting the pillow. Once she was content with the coral color, she was ready to start painting the pillow. Sarah used a stencil brush to paint the pattern. She was careful to not overload the brush with too much paint because this would have caused the paint to bleed under the stencil. For the inside of the flower, she painted it a neutral gray. After her pillow was painted, she lifted the stencil to reveal her pretty Anemone Blossom pattern. Then she was ready to paint her second pillow. Ready to see her two floral beauties again?
