Painted Pillows Using the Tamara Trellis Paint-A-Pillow Kit

We'd like to introduce Paula, a modern day Martha Stewart and the blogger behind Virginia Sweet Pea. Paula was looking to freshen her home with some new accent pillows. We all know that accent pillows are the easiest and most inexpensive way to update home decor. The challenge seems to be finding the right pattern in the right color. Paula was excited to try Paint-A-Pillow. She browsed the large collection of pillow patterns and carefully chose an intricate Moroccan pattern, the Tamara Trellis. Then she selected white pillow covers, several Jacquard fabric paints, and tassels to complete her project. Here is a sneak peek at the reversible pillows that she created: We love the colors that are rockin' in this Moroccan! Now we're going to fill you in on how you can recreate her awesome pillows. Paula opened her Paint-A-Pillow box and was ready to start stenciling since the kit comes with all of the supplies needed. With everything out on her kitchen table, she was ready to start crafting. Paula used a stencil brush to paint the pattern. She was careful to not overload the brush with too much paint because this would have caused the paint to bleed under the stencil. She decided to paint the same pattern on both sides of the pillows but in different colors. For the first side she chose to paint it neutral gray, yellow ochre and turquoise. On the opposite side she painted turquoise, gray, and maroon. Paula commented, " Now my pillows are reversible, giving me two fun looks!" After both sides of her pillows were stenciled, Paula was ready to add tassels. She said, "Tassels are an inexpensive add-on to the kit and I think are a fun addition to the pillows." The latch hook tool makes adding tassels simple. You push the hook through the inside corner of the pillow and place a tassel on the hook. Then pull it back through the corner (no it won't leave a gaping hole) and tie a knot. See how simple that was? Once the pillows were painted and embellished with tassels, Paula placed them on her neutral couch for a nice pop of color. Here they are: Then she can simply flip them over for a whole new look!
