Stenciling A Stylish Window Treatment

Stencils Give Your Windows A Custom Look!

Good morning, my DIY friends! Have you been dreaming of giving your windows a style boost? Cutting Edge Stencils certainly believes that window treatments compliment every room in the house by adding color and pattern. Custom curtains and shades can be very pricey which is why we believe in creating your own DIY window treatments using stencils! It's a simple and inexpensive project. All you have to do is choose your favorite stencil pattern and coordinating room colors to get the custom look you desire. Let's take a look at some stylishly stenciled window treatments. Ashley is a huge fan of stenciling so over the next month, she's going to be featuring a new stencil project and giveaway on her blog each Friday. For the first stencil project of the series, Ashley decided to stencil a set of curtains. She decided to make her own curtains but you could certainly start with a set of plain panels from Ikea. Then she put down a drop cloth in the area she planned to stencil the curtains. This helped ensure that any paint that leaked through the fabric did not stain the surface. Ashley painted our Paisley Allover Stencil, pattern on the red curtains using a dense foam roller and white fabric paint. She didn't want the curtains to be too busy so she only painted the pattern on the bottom half of the curtains. We think they turned out gorgeous. Be sure to stop by her blog for the full tutorial and to enter the giveaway. She was expecting her third child and attempting to build a super stylish nursery using hand-me down items. These previously loved items did not include window treatments, so Georgica had to put her DIY thinking cap on. She didn't want to spend the small fortune it would cost to order custom shades for the nursery so she decided to craft her own. She purchased a plain white shade from a local store, Spotlight, and ordered our Marrakech Trellis Craft Stencil, a popular Moroccan stencil pattern. While Georgica had never stenciled before, she gave it try while her little one was taking a nap. Using a dense foam roller and fabric paint, she painted the Moroccan pattern onto the white shades. Once the paint was dry, she stepped back to ooh and aah over her creative project. We think they look absolutely fabulous!
