Stencil A Modern DIY Bean Bag Chair With The Otomi Tribal Pattern

Now we all know that tribal elements are huge this year and no matter where we look these days, fashion to home decor, the Otomi pattern is present. We love this fun and whimsical tribal design whether it's painted in bold bright hues or subtle neutral tones. Today we are sharing a DIY stenciled bean bag chair using the Otomi tribal pattern. We'd like you to welcome back Shelley, the amazing DIYer behind the blog Crazy Wonderful. You might remember her Indian Inlay stenciled mirror. It's so gorgeous, how could you forget? Well Shelley is once again completing pretty DIY projects using our stencils. This time she used our Otomi Allover stencil pattern to create the chicest bean bags we've seen! It all started when she decided to buy some bean bag chairs for her kids but couldn't find any that she loved. They were either too small, cartoon themed, or not lounge like enough. So she decided she was going to make them. Shelley says, "I spotted this otomi print stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils and this bean bag pattern from Made and knew I had found my perfect bean bag!" Sounds like the perfect DIY project to us! To kick it off, Shelley gathered her materials which included two 9x12 drop cloths, white flat interior paint, a dense foam roller, and the Otomi Allover Stencil. If you're recreating this project, you'll need to find a large surface area like a floor or big table to stencil on. Before you start stenciling, lay out a plastic table cloth under the drop cloth to catch any excess paint that might seep through. Shelley carefully followed the directions on Made to sew the stenciled drop cloth into a bean bag shape. Once it was complete she stuffed it with bean bag filler that she purchased at Bed Bath & Beyond. Ready to see how it all turned out? Shelley said, "I am so in love with these things!!! The kids are too. Actually, they're WAY more excited about them than I expected. Not a day goes by that they aren't playing around in them." We can totally see why. These are awesome!
