How To Stencil Drop Cloth Curtains With The Kerry Damask Pattern

stencils? It's an easy DIY project that will have your windows looking stylish in no time. Today we're going to help you get the hang of stenciling drop cloth curtains. Let's get started...
We'd like to introduce Amy, a wedding photographer and creative mind behind the blog Photo Love Stories. Amy's studio had a large window that was in desperate need of a curtain makeover. Pricey designer curtains were out of the question, so Amy put her DIY thinking cap on and decided to paint her own curtains. She purchased two inexpensive drop cloths from a local hardware store and then borrowed the
Kerry Damask Stencil from a friend. Here is the scoop on how she turned drop cloths into curtains using a stencil:
First you're gonna need this stuff listed below:

(2) drop cloth panels

Dense Foam Roller <--- We prefer the one in this link.
- Painter's tape
- Small paint tray or plastic plate
- Paper towels
- plastic tablecloth
- Craft paint found at Michaels or JoAnns

Gather Materials: Start the stencil project by gathering all of the materials listed above. Amy simple drop cloths from Lowes. If it's needed, iron the drop cloths to remove any wrinkles.

Secure The Stencil: Find a flat surface to complete your stencil project. Amy used her garage floor. Be sure to put down a plastic tablecloth and secure it with tape. If the paint bleeds through the drop cloth panel, the plastic tablecloth will catch it. Then place the drop cloth panel on top of the plastic tablecloth and position the stencil design on the curtain panel. Then you can secure the stencil in place using painter's tape.

Start Stenciling: Pour your craft paint onto a plate or paint tray. Then lightly coat your
Dense Foam Roller with paint. Be sure to roll off excess paint onto a folded paper towel until the roller looks almost dry. It is important to use as little paint as possible when stenciling. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed and smudge. Next you will paint the design onto the curtain panel with the roller.
For this project, Amy used a custom purple hue she had created at Home Depot.

Complete the Pattern: Allow the paint to dry a little and reposition the stencil so you can continue to paint the pattern on the entire curtain panel. Let the paint dry for about two hours before hanging the curtains.
