A Basement Floor Makeover Using A Tile Stencil
Wall Stencils Are A Budget Friendly Basement Floor Option
Good morning, my
Cutting Edge Stencils friends! If you are looking for DIY flooring ideas that look gorgeous and don't bust your budget then you have come to the right spot. Our
floor stencils are a budget friendly and super stylish way to update an ugly floor. Today we’re going to share a cement basement floor makeover painted with our
Augusta Tile Pattern. Come take a look...
We'd like to introduce Marta, the travel blogger for
Mackinaw Road. Marta had a break in between her travels and while she was home, she planned to complete some decor projects. On that list was her basement which she used as a laundry/mudroom. The basement had a concrete floor that was uneven and in her eyes ugly. Here is what it looked like before:
Marta looked into several floor options, like tile and wood but they were all very expensive and would not have worked out. Then a friend reached out to her and suggested that she paint the floors. Marta turned to Pinterest for ideas and was excited to find our large collection of
tile stencils. She browsed our large collection of
tile patterns and selected our
Augusta Tile Stencil. This beautiful pattern was inspired by traditional Portuguese Azulejos tile designs.
The first thing Marta did was clean the concrete floor to ensure there wasn't any debris and then she prepped and painted it. Cleaning and prepping the floor is key to completing a painted floor that will last for years. Marta painted her basement floor white using Valspar's Porch, Floor & Patio paint.
With her stencil in hand, she was ready to start
stenciling! She used blue painters tape to hold the stencil in place and a dense foam roller to paint the pattern in black. After each section was complete, Marta would un-tape the stencil and reposition so she could paint the entire basement floor.
Once the entire floor is stenciled, we always recommend applying a waterbased polyurethane sealer to increase durability. Are you ready to see how her project turned out? Here is Marta's stenciled basement floor!
We think she did an amazing job transforming this space and giving the cement floor a stenciled new look. Marta posted, "Just finishing up these Portuguese-inspired tiles ... except they aren't tiles. This look was accomplished with paint and stencils for a fraction of the cost. "
