A Budget Friendly Kitchen Floor Makeover Using Stencils
Wall Stencils Can Help Update An Old Linoleum Floor
Welcome back, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends. If you've been daydreaming about replacing your linoleum tile flooring then we have the perfect DIY project for you! Paint and our stencil designs offer an affordable and easy way to update old flooring. Today we're sharing a kitchen makeover complete with a stenciled floor using our Stephanie's Lace Wall Stencil. We'd like to introduce you to Colette, the creative DIYer behind the blog Restyle It Wright. Colette signed up to participate in a project called the One Room Challenge which was designed by Linda from Calling it Home. The purpose of the fun challenge was to have DIY bloggers put their creativity, perseverance and patience to test by completing a room makeover in six short weeks. Colette wanted to give her kitchen a makeover. It was a space that she hadn't touched since moving in almost two years ago. The walls had been painted and a couple of appliances were updated but it lacked her personal touch. Colette has spent many hours dreaming of what she would do to update the space and she felt the ORC was the perfect opportunity to act on it. Here is what the kitchen looked like before: This kitchen makeover was not only going to happen in six short weeks but Colette had a tight budget to work with. She didn't like the linoleum kitchen floor but replacing the lackluster flooring wasn't an option. Colette decided to update it with a stencil pattern! She browsed our large collection of stencils and selected our Stephanie Lace Stencil. This gorgeous lace stencil is very intricate, yet sturdy and easy to use so it's perfect for a floor. Colette painted her kitchen floor a light gray color and she was ready to start stenciling! She carefully taped the stencil down using blue painter's tape and painted the pattern in white using a dense foam roller. Colette made sure she rolled off any excess paint on a piece of paper towel. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed. After each section was painted, she would carefully remove the stencil and reposition so she could finish the design. Are you ready to see how her project turned out? Here is Colette's kitchen with a newly stenciled kitchen floor. Colette completed many projects in the six week period and you can read all about her makeover on her blog Restyle It Wright. She commented, "Thanks to Cutting Edge Stencils, the floor turned out amazing using their Stephanie's Lace Wall Stencil." Tell us, what stencil pattern would you paint on your linoleum floor?
