We'd like to introduce Annie, the creative DIYer behind the blog
Zevy Joy. Annie felt her tiny patio needed an update. Here is what it looked like below:
Her lovely outdoor space was cluttered and lackluster but it had a ton of potential. Annie had a limited budget for this quick outdoor makeover so she needed to keep this in mind. While browsing Pinterest for ideas, she fell in love with the look of tiled floors. She said, "I thought it would be fun to have a dynamic shaped pattern on our floors and was aware that tiling during this season just wasn’t going to happen. So I quickly decided that stenciling the floor would be an excellent compromise =)."
Tile stencils are an easy and inexpensive way to update a space. Annie browsed our website and selected the
Fabiola Tile Stencil Pattern. This
tile pattern is based on traditional Portuguese Azulejos tile designs and is suitable for all types of DIY projects.
The first thing she did was fill in the cracks and paint her patio white. You can read all about her prep work on her blog,
Zevy Joy, but we're going to focus on the fun part
stenciling! If you are recreating this project at home, use blue painter's tape to hold the
tile stencil in place and paint the pattern with a stencil brush. This particular project features Cabot DeckCorrect paint in Driftwood Gray painted over Behr's white patio paint. After each section of the stencil is complete, simply untape it and reposition to finish the pattern on the patio. For more information on how to stencil, please check out our
