Tile Stencils Will Give You Pinterest Worthy Floors For Under $100
Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends! Does your boring cement floor have you feeling down? We're here to show you how to turn a bland concrete slab into a stunning painted floor using one of our floor stencils. It's an easy and affordable DIY project. Come take a walk through a cement floor makeover using our Alhambra Tile Stencil. We'd like to welcome back Erika, the in-house creative guru from Cutting Edge Stencils. Painted floors are the latest DIY trend and we just can't get enough. Our workshop was the most hideous shade of red so Erika decided to give it a stenciled makeover. Here is a quick video tutorial: The first thing Erika did was clean her floor to ensure there wasn't any debris. Once the floor had been properly cleaned, Erika primed it using Stix Waterborne Bonding Primer by Insl-x. STIX primer is perfect for a project like this because it adheres to the cement and provides a great base for painting and stenciling. After the primer was dry, Erika applied her base coat of paint. She painted the base coat using Benjamin Moore Ben flat in Black. Erika was ready to start stenciling. She chose our Alhambra Tile Stencil. This pretty stencil design has both Turkish and Moorish influences. It also would allow her to get a Pinterest-worthy cement tile look for a fraction of the price. Erika sprayed the back of the stencil with repositionable spray adhesive. We like Sticky Note repositionable spray adhesive. You could use any respositionable spray adhesive that is typically found in a craft store like Michaels. Erika placed her stencil on the tile. She rolled her 4" dense foam roller in Benjamin Moore Navajo White and then painted the pattern. Every once in a while she would stand up and admire the pretty pattern. After each section was painted, Erika would un-tape the stencil and reposition so she could paint the entire floor. To complete this cement floor project, Erika applied a two coats of Varethane waterbased polyurethane. This will help increase durability and protect her stencil pattern. Let's take a moment to stop and stare at this beauty. Stenciling a cement floor is such an easy DIY project and yet the impact was huge. Erika managed to completely transform the look of the ugly cement floor using paint and a stencil pattern. Tell us, in which room in your home would you stencil a floor?
