Stencils Give An Old Vinyl Floor A Budget Friendly New Look
Wall Stencils Can Spruce Up An Old Bathroom Floor
Good morning, my
Cutting Edge Stencils friends! When a bathroom overhaul is not in the budget, a floor makeover using our
floor stencils can be the perfect quick fix. A trendy tile
stencil pattern is a quick and easy solution to giving your floor a fresh new look. Today we’re going to share a vinyl bathroom floor makeover that was spruced up with our
Augusta Tile Stencil. Come take a look...
We'd like to introduce Kay Ohara, a creative DIYer, Cutting Edge Stencils fan, and the owner of Waka Antiques and Interiors. She collects and sources one of a kind unique items from around the world, mainly Japan, US, and Europe. Super cool, right? Totally! So it was no surprise that she is taking part in the latest stencil trend where homeowners are using our beautiful
tile stencils to freshen up old floors. Kay said, "I'm not ready to renovate my guest bathroom just yet, so I decided to revamp the space by stenciling the ugly vinyl tiles." She browsed our large collection of
tile stencil patterns and selected our
Augusta Tile Pattern. This beautiful pattern is based on traditional Portuguese Azulejos tile designs and has become very popular.
The first thing Kay did was clean her floor to ensure there wasn't any debris and then she painted it in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in an orange creamsicle hue. Cleaning and prepping the floor is key to completing a painted floor that will last for years. With her stencil in hand, she was ready to start
stenciling! She used blue painters tape to hold the stencil in place and a dense foam roller to paint the pattern in white.
After each section was complete, Kay would un-tape the stencil and reposition so she could paint the entire bathroom floor.
Once the entire floor was stenciled, Kay applied a polyurethane sealer to increase durability. She posted, "
With water based polyurethane with a bit of gloss as the top coat (I put three coats), it really emulates tiles, I think." Once the floor was complete, Kay stepped back to admire her beautiful project. She said, " The finished product. It really looks like tiles, don't you think?" We totally think it looks like a real tiled floor.
We think she did an amazing job transforming an old viny floor using a stencil and paint. Don't you agree?
