Tips For Painting A Stylish Rug Using Stencils
Stencils Can Customize A Plain Ikea Rug
Welcome back, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends! Instead of shelling out the big bucks for that really stylish rug that you've been eyeing, we want you to consider using our stencil patterns to personalize a plain one! Paint and our stencil designs are an easy and affordable way to give a basic rug some pattern and personality. Come see how this Ikea rug received a beach-tastic makeover using our Nautical Stencils.
Kristin had a set of plates that she loved. The beach inspired plates featured a blue crab. She thought it would be a great idea to craft a rug that coordinated with her favorite plates. She browsed our website and fell in love with our Coral Stencil and Lobster Stencil. With her stencil in hand she was ready to kick off her project. She also grabbed a quart of latex paint and a jar of BB Frösch Chalk Paint Powder. 
Kristin placed her materials on the floor which included her stencil, her plate for inspiration, several blue and green paints, BB Frosch Chalk Paint Powder, and a stencil brush. 
Then she taped the stencil to the rug using blue painter's tape. She explains how to make the chalk paint using these quick and easy mixing instructions. She chose a range of blues and greens for this project. Kristin used a stencil brush to paint the pattern. If you are recreating this project at home, be sure to brush off any excess paint on a piece of paper towel. Too much paint will cause the stencil to bleed. 
After the pattern was painted, Kristin would untape the stencil and reposition it until the entire rug was stenciled. 
Once it was complete, she stepped back to admire her crafty work. 
Kristin commented, "I still marvel that the least expensive, and often the quickest/easiest, makeovers are the ones I love the most! This rug took about 30 minutes to paint. Not only did it get #thefroscheffect, the rug itself gives my whole back patio the Frösch Effect! "
