Let's visit Kristin, the creative mind behind The Shabby Bride and creator of BB Frosch Chalk Paint Powder. Have we ever told you how much we love BB Frosch Chalk Paint Powder? It's awesome for stencil projects. Kristin had scored a plain rug at Ikea for a great price. She has a natural touch for taking a simple item and giving it a stylish look using BB Frosch Chalk Paint Powder and our stencils. Here is a short tutorial she put together showing how she did it: Love it? We knew you would. Ok, let's walk through the steps for completing this quick project. Kristin bought the Osted rug from Ikea. This affordable rug is hard-wearing and durable because it’s made of sisal, a natural fiber. This makes it perfect for stenciling! An Ikea rug before its stenciled makeover. Kristin had a set of plates that she loved. The beach inspired plates featured a blue crab. She thought it would be a great idea to craft a rug that coordinated with her favorite plates. She browsed our website and fell in love with our Coral Stencil and Lobster Stencil. With her stencil in hand she was ready to kick off her project. She also grabbed a quart of latex paint and a jar of BB Frösch Chalk Paint Powder. The Lobster and Coral Stencil are part of the Nautical Stencil Collection at Cutting Edge Stencils. http://www.cuttingedgestencils.com/collections/beach-decor-stencils-designs-nautical Kristin placed her materials on the floor which included her stencil, her plate for inspiration, several blue and green paints, BB Frosch Chalk Paint Powder, and a stencil brush. She explains how to make the chalk paint using these quick and easy mixing instructions. She chose a range of blues and greens for this project. Kristin used a stencil brush to paint the pattern. If you are recreating this project at home, be sure to brush off any excess paint on a piece of paper towel. Too much paint will cause the stencil to bleed. This rug took about 30 minutes to paint. Not only did it get #thefroscheffect, the rug itself gives my whole back patio the Frösch Effect!
