Roxanne has been working on updating her niece's kitchen with various DIY projects. The kitchen had old linoleum flooring that Roxanne described as outdated and yellow-ish. Short and simple, it had to go! Flooring can be expensive so Roxanne chose to paint and stencil the floor. She browsed our large collection of tile stencils and selected our Santa Ana Tile Stencil. This Portuguese- inspired pattern brings exotic flair to any floor or wall. We always recommend painting a floor with a great primer like STIX primer for a project like this. Roxanne painted the kitchen floor in Behr's Slate Gray. She let the base coat of paint dry overnight and then she began stenciling. She used blue painter's tape to hold her Santa Ana Tile Stencil pattern in place. Then she painted the tile design in white using a Wagner Paint Sprayer . To read more details about using a paint sprayer verse using a stencil brush, please visit her blog. After each section was complete, she would un-tape the stencil and reposition so the entire floor would be painted. After the stencil was complete, Roxanne applied several coats of Rustoleum polyurethane to seal in her beautiful design. Are you ready for the big reveal? Here is the gorgeous stenciled floor in her kitchen.
