Stencil A Stylish Kitchen Floor

Stencil Patterns Are An Affordable Way To Add Style To Your Kitchen Floor

Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends! Paint and a stencil design can make it easy and affordable to jazz up an otherwise boring kitchen floor. Old flooring isn't doomed. It's easy to update it with your favorite paint color and stencil to give it a stylish new look. Today we’re going to share a kitchen floor that was enhanced with paint and our Santa Ana Tile Stencil. Come take a look... A water leak in the kitchen left Michelle's floors damaged beyond repair. She ripped up the old linoleum and uncovered more linoleum glued to the hardwood subfloor. That's when Michelle started searching for floor options that were both affordable and stylish. Since stenciled floors have become one of the hottest DIY decorating trends and Michelle decided to attempt it. She browsed our large collection of tile stencils and selected our Santa Ana Tile Stencil. This Portuguese- inspired pattern brings exotic flair to any floor or wall. Michelle kicked off her project by cleaning any debris off the floor. Then she primed the existing tile floor. We like STIX primer for a project like this. Michelle let the primer dry before she painted it with a floor paint in Behr's Fairy Queen. She let the base coat of paint dry overnight and then she began stenciling. She used blue painter's tape to hold her Santa Ana Tile Stencil pattern in place. Then she painted the tile design in white using a small dense foam roller. After each section was complete, she would un-tape the stencil and reposition so the entire floor would be painted. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed. After the stencil was complete, Michelle applied several coats of General Finishes polyurethane to seal in her beautiful design.
