How To Stencil A Holiday Gift Box
Stencil Designs Can Dress Up A Holiday Gift Box
Welcome back, my
Cutting Edge Stencils friends!
This Holiday season, put a handmade spin on store bought using our stencil patterns. Our Christmas Stencils make putting a personal touch on a traditionally impersonal gift super easy. Today we're sharing how to stencil a gift box using a festive stencil pattern. Come check it out...
We'd like you to meet Madison, a creative DIYer and
Hometalk contributor. The Hometalk team offered Madison a chance to use a stencil pattern for a holiday themed project and she jumped at the challenge. We sent her the
Holiday Cheer Craft Stencil in a small and let her DIY imagination run wild. This
Holiday Stencil template is a geometric pattern with small snowflakes.
Madison had decided that this year she wanted to bring a handmade gift to any Holiday parties that she attended. Our stencil was about to come in handy! She had a Whitman's chocolate sampler that was about to be trashed and Madison decided to upcycle it into a gift box.
The first thing she did was paint the outside of the box using Americana Decor Chalky Finish paint in a gray hue.
Once the paint was dry, she was ready to start
stenciling. She placed the
Christmas Stencil onto the top of the box and used painter's tape to hold it in place.
Then Madison painted the festive pattern using FolkArt Paint in metallic silver and silver glitter. Madison used a stencil brush for this project. If you are recreating it at home, be sure to brush off any excess paint on a piece of paper towel. Too much paint can cause bleed.
Once her stencil was complete, Madison lifted it to reveal the merry design. To complete her project, she glued decorative ribbon along the edges and a silver ornament in the corner.
Are you ready to see how it all turned out? Here is her DIY stenciled Holiday gift box!
Madison had this to say about about her project, "So now I have my home made gift, to fill with home made cookies, to bring to my favorite holiday host! It was fun creating something new from something old and using a great stencil!"
