Stenciling Street Art
Cutting Edge Stencils Shares Stenciled Street Art by Hellbent
Happy Friday, my stencil lovin' friends. Cutting Edge Stencils has a case of Friday-itis. Normally we chat about stencil tutorials or stencil inspiration, but today we're taking a break (sort of) and bringing you some visual eye candy. We have a new fascination with street art. What is that, you ask? Well it's an umbrella term defining different types of visual art created in public locations. This form of graffiti art seems to be gaining in popularity, just take this illustration of street art meets nature as a good example. Photo Credit: Painted by Decy from Brazil- The Heidelberg Project We'd like you to meet Justin from Hellbent Art, a popular artist who has managed to cross the various art worlds creating everything from graffiti to murals to gallery pieces. While Justin aka Hellbent, has been zipping across the US creating unique pieces and WOWing the art world, it's his recent street art that caught our attention. Why, might you ask? Well as it turns out, Hellbent is also a street stenciler! He recently called our stencil studio to place a stencil order and he shared some of his recent work via Instagram. Needless to say we were blown away. Here's an art wall that he created on the exterior of Denim and Supply, Ralph Lauren. This boutique shop is located on 12 th and University in New York City. We immediately spotted our Fishscale Allover pattern and Polka Dot Allover, do you? Our Chicago stencilers may have spotted this art wall in front of The Violet Hour located on 1520 N Damen Ave. We love the zippy yellow and purple combination with our Herringbone Allover Stencil. As you can see, Hellbent has a unique wallpaper pattern style. He has said his art is inspired by quilt patterns and his passion for hand-crafted items. It's no wonder he's become such a fan of our stencils! Recently, Hellbent was spotted creating a 470 foot art wall behind the Domino Sugar Factory in Brooklyn. He was commissioned by Two Trees Management, the developer of the mega-project, to create an optical effect for the wall surrounding the construction site at the factory. Here he is working through the stenciling process. We spy several of our stencil patterns gracing this gorgeous art wall. How many can you spot? If you said Fishscale Allover, Polka Dot Allover and Ikat Samarkand, and the Gabrielle Damask then you are correct! We love the way he mixes color and pattern to dress up a work site. Check out HellBent Art on Instagram and hit the follow, we promise you won't be sorry! Tell us, what do you think of street art? Leave us a comment below, we'd love to read your thoughts!
