Good Morning, my stenciling friends. Are you planning a nursery for your future little bundle of joy? Cutting Edge Stencils is here to help! If you are looking for a boy's nursery idea that steps away from the traditional trucks and sports themes, then you've come to the right place. Today we're going to share a modern woodland themed nursery that is sure to inspire.
We'd like to introduce you to Katie, the Mama to an adorable little boy named Will and creative DIYer behind the blog Haute Apple Pie. When Katie and her husband found out they were expecting a baby boy, they were beyond thrilled. Katie started planning the nursery for her little bundle of joy. Traditional boy themes like trucks and sports did not fit the couples personality. She said, "Knowing that this kid will probably spend tons of time outside, I’ve been trying to put together ideas for a room that my outdoorsy husband will love too. I want it to feel soothing but bright and whimsical but not too baby." Once she had a vision in mind, she started putting together an inspiration board for a modern woodland themed nursery. Here is what she came up with:

It's such a cute idea, right? With a visual plan in hand, Katie was ready to get to work. Her goal was to incorporate woodsy elements into the space. To create the perfect woodland retreat, she chose to paint an accent wall behind the crib. Our Birch Forest Allover Stencil, a popular nature-inspired design, was the perfect pattern for the accent wall. She painted it in Benjamin Moore's bleeker beige over the existing white wall. She used blue painters tape to hold the stencil in place and a dense foam roller to paint the pattern. The remaining three walls were also painted in Benjamin Moore's bleeker beige. After the walls were painted, Katie added some woodsy decor accessories, which we'll get to in just a bit. Are you ready for the big reveal? Here is Katie's modern woodland themed nursery.
Katie had this to say about her finished space, "Neutral base colors offset by lots of bright accents around the room helped achieve the calm yet whimsical feel we were going for."
