Stenciling a Navajo Inspired Nursery
Cutting Edge Stencils Shares A Navajo Themed Nursery
Good Morning, my stenciling friends.
Cutting Edge Stencils loves sharing nursery ideas that step outside the traditional box. Unexpected color combinations or nursery themes can be fun and interesting. If you've been on a quest for a nursery that's a little bit different, then you've come to the right place. Today we're going to share a Navajo themed nursery that is sure to inspire.
We'd like to introduce you to Anita, the Mama to an beautiful little girl and creative DIYer behind the blog
Live Like You Are Rich. When Anita and her husband found out they were expecting a baby girl, they were beyond thrilled. Anita started planning the nursery for her little bundle of joy. The couple had always dreamed of creating a traditional Navajo or Native American inspired nursery because of the husbands heritage. The room was pretty much a blank slate with rich red hardwood flooring. It was the perfect start.
The first thing Anita did was pull together a Navajo inspired color scheme for the space. She chose turquoise and copper red with a splash of pink based on traditional Navajo jewelry. Once she had a game plan, Anita was ready to start painting. She painted an accent wall using a color similar to Sherwin Williams Roycroft Copper Red. Then she chose to add a tribal inspired pattern using our
Navajo Allover Stencil in Sherwin Williams Synergy. Anita used frog tape to hold the stencil in place and a dense foam roller to paint the pattern.
Then she painted the other three walls using Sherwin Williams Synergy. For those walls, she chose to paint a more playful and less intricate stencil pattern, the
Tribal Arrow Allover Stencil. Anita painted the arrow motif using Sherwin Williams Turquish. She spills the beans on how she prepped and stenciled her walls
here so we won't bore you with the details.
After the walls were painted and stenciled, Anita carefully selected decor that fit her theme. Are you ready for the big reveal? Here is Anita's Navajo themed nursery.
Let's take a closer look at her decor and fabulous stencil job. Anita used Native American items that were handed down from her husband's grandparents to decorate the space.
Artwork for this space was simple. Anita bought a frame from a garage sale and used it to enhance existing artwork that she had inherited from her late grandmother.
Anita bought Navajo printed fabric from a local store to create a custom changing pad cover and then hand crafted a feather mobile.
To complete the space, she made her own DIY curtains!
