Happy Tuesday, my DIY home renovators! It was just last week that we spotted Cutting Edge Stencils over on One Kings Lane in a pretty awesome stair stencil tutorial. Did you miss it? See it here. In the middle of our happy dance, we opened up the October issue to page 49 of This Old House Magazine and spotted one of our stencils staring back at us! BOOYAH! Can you tell we're a bit excited about this stencil sighting? I mean who wouldn't be thrilled to see our Diamond Damask pattern looking extra stunning under the title of such a prestigious DIY publication! See what they had to say...
Stencil On A Wallpaper Look
The article, which is featured in the paint section, talks about the desire to add color and pattern to a wall. While wallpaper is often considered, it's pricey and a huge hassle. Lucky for us and for you, TOH has an affordable solution. Stenciling! It's a simple way to get the wallpaper look but for a fraction of the price. Austinologie, Faux Painting and Decorative Artistry located in Texas, crafted this gorgeous accent wall in a foyer. Did they have you thinking it was wallpaper? It's actually our Anna Damask stencil painted in rich golden brown tones. Do you love it or do you love it?
Now check out this dining room accent wall. As you scoop your jaw up off the ground, let us tell you that this is a stencil too. This stenciled accent was painted using our Marrakech Trellis pattern by our fab fans, Janice and Emmanuel. They had this to say, "We couldn't agree on who came up with the genius idea of painting a portion of the wall in the dining space (PS: Janice!) and then adding a stencil (the lovely Marrakech Allover) for an additional dose of interest. Voila! Instant WOW!" PS. The background color is Sherwin William 7675 Sealskin and the stencil was painted in Dazzling Metallics Luminous Gold from JoAnn's. It's gorgeous!
Want to take a guess as to whether this is wallpaper or a stencil? Don't let the stenciled rooms above fool you into thinking that stencils only come in Damask and Moroccan patterns. Stripes are HOT and our stencil patterns are keeping up with the trends! This trendy grey and white Chevron striped wall was painted by one of our awesome fans. To get this look, consider using Benjamin Moore's silver dollar 1460 and chantilly lace 2121-70. Adorable and it will be so easy to change as the baby grows older!
