A Fast & Fabulous China Cabinet Makeover
A DIY Stenciled China Cabinet Using the Leopard Skin Stencil
Good morning, my DIY friends. Do you dream of transforming an old piece of furniture into something new and functional? Painting and stenciling a piece of furniture is a great way to make it fresh and fabulous. It's also a budget-friendly alternative to purchasing new furniture AND it allows you to create an item that reflects your personal decor style. Awesomesauce, right? But if a furniture project seems more like a daunting nightmare rather than a DIY dream, then
Cutting Edge Stencils is here to hold your hand. We've got a project that is going to knock your stenciled socks off because you will be able to recreate it regardless of your stencil skill level. Come take a look at how a china cabinet gets a pretty patterned makeover...
We'd like to welcome Amy, the decorating enthusiast and creative DIYer behind the blog
Playing Sublimely. Amy admits to falling in love with the new Thibaut Tanzania wallpaper shown in this Lilly Bunn bathroom.
We can't blame her because it's pretty amazing! She was temped to put this in her bathroom but that would mean taking down the current wallpaper and putting new wallpaper. Ugh, a project that sounds like a complete nightmare because wallpaper is such a hassle. Amy says, "I just couldn’t pull the trigger, so I took the easy way out and got my “black and white spotted fix” by using it in a smaller space."
Amy and her husband had built a china cabinet a couple of years ago and she had used a Zebra pattern on back. Since she was ready for a leopard change she painted the back of the cabinet with a 50/50 mixture of Annie Sloan’s Pure White and Old White. Then she stenciled our
Leopard Skin Allover pattern in Annie Sloan’s Graphite.
Amy used painters tape to hold the stencil in place and then painted the pattern using a dense foam roller.
After the stencil was complete and dry, Amy placed her dishes back into the cabinet. Ready to see what her newly stenciled cabinet looks like?
Aren't you just wild about it's new look? We sure are. Here is a close-up of the leopard stencil.
