A Wooden Chair Makeover Using Mandala Stencils

Mandala Stencils Give New Style To Old Wooden Chairs

Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends! Solid wood furniture is as beautiful as it is durable, but the look of natural or stained wood does not complement every decor. Painting wood chairs with a stencil pattern gives them new life for very little cost. Our furniture stencils make DIY furniture makeovers affordable and easy enough for a first time stenciler. Here is how one crafty blogger used the Prosperity Mandala Pattern to give new style to an old chair. Come be inspired... Cutting Edge Stencils shares a DIY painted and stenciled wooden chair makeover using the Prosperity Mandala Stencil. http://www.cuttingedgestencils.com/products/prosperity-mandala-stencil-yoga-mandala-stencils-designs We'd like to welcome back Kammy, the creative blogger and furniture makeover queen behind Kammy's Korner. She had spotted a set of four chairs sitting curbside one day and rather than pass them by, she tossed them into the back of her truck. Here is what the chairs looked like: A wooden chair before its stenciled makeover. http://www.cuttingedgestencils.com/products/prosperity-mandala-stencil-yoga-mandala-stencils-designs The chairs were worn and in desperate need of a makeover! But this roadside cutie was about to become a trash to treasure story. Kammy loves to rescue roadside pieces and give them new life. The first thing she did was lightly sand the chair and give it a fresh coat of black paint. The simple coat of paint already freshened up the old chair. Kammy didn't stop there! She said, "I felt I needed a design with contrasting color to add some pizzazz." She browsed our large collection of furniture stencils and fell in love with our new Prosperity Mandala Stencil. This 24 inch mandala pattern represents Opulence, Luxury and the Good Life. She used blue painter's tape to adhere the stencil to the wood. Then she painted the stencil design in a white using a dense foam roller. If you are recreating this project at home, be sure to roll off extra paint so it doesn't bleed under the stencil. The key to stenciling is using very little paint. She rolled the dense foam roller over the stencil pattern once and allowed the design to have a faded look by not applying more paint. Here is her stenciled wooden chair.
