Decorate An Ikea Bookcase With Stencils

Stencil Patterns Can Enhance An Ikea Bookcase

Good Morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils fans! Are you familiar with the saying, "Don't judge a book by its cover?" We'd like you to take that age-old saying one step further and not judge a bookcase by its initial appearance. We strongly believe that when buying a piece of furniture it's not always about how it looks that moment but imagining what it could become. Don't you agree? If you need a little more convincing then please read on! We'd like you to welcome back Karen, the creative DIYer behind the blog A House Full of Sunshine. Karen has completed several clever projects using stencil patterns and if you stop by her blog you'll be delighted with her creativity. Karen needed a functional bookcase for her living room when she spotted the Billy Bookcase in white from Ikea. Here's what it looks like: A DIY stencil makeover for the Billy Bookcase from Ikea. http://www.cuttingedgestencils.com/products/allover-stencil Karen said, "They're functional and utilitarian. And I was pretty sure that with a bit of imagination, we could personalize them to make them something special." What a smart cookie! Karen decided the perfect way to embellish the boring bookcase was a stencil pattern. She browsed our website and found selected a beautiful geometric pattern, the Trellis Allover Stencil. This popular trellis stencil mimics the look of pricey wallpaper and is perfect for furniture projects. The best part about stenciling is that when she changes her living room colors, it will be super easy to change the bookcase. Karen used painters tape to hold the stencil in place and a dense foam roller to paint the pattern. Here is how it all turned out!
