Stencils Can Transform Your Ordinary Furniture Into Fresh Finds

Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends! Spruce up an old side table with a super quick paint and stencils makeover. Didn't know it was that easy? Rather than toss aside those old pieces of furniture consider giving them a fresh new look using one of our stencils. In fact, our furniture stencils make adding a splashy pattern affordable and can help transform that curbside treasure. Let’s take a look at a side table makeover using our French Poem Craft pattern. We'd like to welcome back Amy, the creative DIYer behind the blog Always Never Done. Amy has a small shop where she sells her painted and restored furniture. She has a natural talent for giving new life to old pieces of furniture. Because of her budding business, she has the chance to discover hidden gems inside of old barns and basements. We know, she is one lucky gal! Amy found a small wooden table that a ton of character but needed to be reloved. She sanded it down to remove the dirt and painted it black using BB Frosch chalk paint powder mixed with black paint. The little wooden table was already perking up. Amy decided to take this cutie to the next level using a stencil. She browsed our furniture stencils on our website and fell in love with our French Poem Craft Stencil. This is our craft/furniture sized version of beautiful French typography. Amy placed the stencil on top of the table and held it in place using her hands. The stencil was larger than her tabletop and she couldn't use tape to secure. We would suggest using blue painter's tape to hold your stencil in place if possible. Then she used a dense foam roller to paint the pretty typeface. Amy painted the pattern in a creamy white hue. After she painted one section, she would un-tape the stencil and reposition it to stencil the lower section of the table. She did this until the pattern was complete. After the tabletop was stenciled, Amy decided to complete its French update using the free stencil that was included in her package. Side note: all of our stencil purchases include a small free stencil! Amy's free stencil was the Fleur de Lis and she painted it on the small shelf on the bottom of the table. To finish off the project, she applied a coat of BB Frosch wax. Ready to see how it turned out? We love how paint and stencils were able to transform this old piece of furniture.
