Old furniture can be an eye sore, but for a crafty DIYer, a piece of old furniture is an opportunity to transform the old into something new and stylish. Today we're sharing a DIY stenciled side table makeover using our Flower of Life Mandala Stencil from the Mandala Collection.
We'd like you to welcome back Greg, one of the Cutting Edge Stencils owners and a creative DIYer. Greg stumbled upon this little black wooden table sitting curbside on his way to the office. Rather than leave it for trash, he decided to give it a makeover using stencils for furniture, our Flower of Life Mandala Stencil. Here is what it looked like before its stenciled makeover.
For our visual fans, you're going to love this stencil tutorial that Greg put together. In this short video, he shows fans how easy it is to stencil a tabletop using a Mandala stencil.
Let's walk through the steps for completing this project. Greg chose not to paint this small table, however if your piece of furniture needs a fresh coat of paint remember to prime it first. Greg decided to use one of our new Mandala Stencils for this fun project, the Flower of Life Stencil.
With his circular pattern in hand he was ready for the fun part, stenciling! Greg carefully taped the stencil down using blue painter's tape.
Greg made sure he brushed off any excess paint on a piece of paper towel. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed. He painted the overlapping circle pattern with Plaster Paint Simple White using a dense foam roller.
Greg made sure he covered the entire design with paint before he removed the pattern.
Once it was complete, he carefully removed the stencil from the top of the table.
Then he stepped back to admire the beautiful pattern. Are you ready to see how it all turned out? Here is Greg's DIY Mandala stenciled side table.
This pretty pattern certainly adds charm to a once plain table.
