Stencils Make Old Furniture Wow-Worthy!

Stencil Patterns Can Easily Transform An Old Dining Table

Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends. Refinishing a curbside find is a rewarding task and an inexpensive way to get a wow-worthy piece. Furniture Stencils are a simple, yet effective way to add design to old furniture. All it takes is a fun stencil design and some bright paint for instant glamour. Today we're going to share a dining table makeover project using the Patchwork Tiles Stencil that is sure to inspire. Anam loves all things DIY and her blog is truly a little gem for DIY decorating. She recently moved into a new home that has a breakfast nook. It was the perfect space for a small dining table and chairs. As luck would have it, Anam came across a round black table and two chairs sitting curbside. Here's what it looked like before the project. The first thing she did was paint it using Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint in Napoleonic Blue. Then she was ready for the fun part, stenciling! Anam browsed our new tile stencil collection and fell in love with the Patchwork Tiles Stencil Pattern. This stencil combines a few traditional Portuguese Azulejos tile designs into one stunning pattern. Anam painted the pattern using two blue paint colors from DecoArt Chalk Acrylic paints in eight vibrant hues. Dip your stencil brush into the paint. Brush off the excess paint onto your folded paper towel until the brush looks almost dry. The key to stenciling is using as little paint as possible. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed and smudge. Next you will paint the design onto the table with the stencil brush. Once the pattern is complete, you'll need to reposition the stencil to complete the design. Simply pick up the stencil, align it, and continue painting the pattern. Once the stencil was complete, Anam went over the entire table with Rustoleum Clear Gloss spray. Presto chango, here is her newly stenciled dining table!
