Good morning my stencil savvy crafters! Have you noticed that garage sales, yard sales, and moving sales seem to be in full swing lately? We at Cutting Edge Stencils certainly have noticed! It's pretty hard not to get excited about those yard sale finds especially if you have an eye for not only what something is but what it has the potential to be. Put your imagination to good use and just think what a little bit of paint and a fun stencil design can do to that old piece of furniture you've just spotted at a recent moving sale. What is Upcycling?

We hear this buzz word a lot but what exactly does it mean? Wikipedia defines it as is the process of converting useless products into new materials or products of better quality. In other words, it's taking the stuff that's no longer needed or wanted and giving it new life as something that is either useful or creative. If you’re like me, you probably have a lot of old stuff just lying around your house. It’s not doing anything but taking up space, but you’re either too busy (or lazy), sentimental or just have more important things to deal with. Meet Jen, the crafty DIYer and one of the bloggers behind the blog Delightful Deets. Jen happened to hit up a moving sale about a year and half ago where she purchased a desk/hutch. She fell in love with the piece immediately but not so much with the color. It was painted black and silver and the paint was scratched and chipping. For the past year and half she's been using it as a computer desk. Does this whole story sound way to much like what I had spelled out above? But before you run off, I want you to meet Sheila. Sheila is a fab furniture fixer-uper and the blogger behind Plum Doodles. She has no fear of stenciling and I'm sure you remember a couple of her projects like these upcycled chairs, stenciled rug, or this cabinet makoever. Well recently, Sheila found a tiny little end table that was in desperate need to be upcycled. Check our her blog for all details on how she managed to transform this lovely piece.
