Stenciling A Garage Sale Masterpiece

DIY Stenciled Furniture Using the Flora Damask Stencil

Good morning, my DIY friends. Do you ever feel like you should have an " I Break For Yard Sales" bumper sticker attached to your car? We sure do! Cutting Edge Stencils loves a good garage sale makeover story. There's just something about finding that inexpensive gem and then transforming it using a little bit of creativity and a stencil. Today we're sharing how paint and stencils turned one man's trash into another one's treasure! Seriously if you're looking for some nursery eye-candy, then you'll want to check out her site. Now let's get back to this garage sale makeover. Awhile ago, Brittany found a dresser and nightstand at a local garage sale for $200. She knew it was a steal but needed a little tender lovin' care. A dresser before it was stenciled with the Flora Damask pattern. http://www.cuttingedgestencils.com/products/wall-damask-stencil The first thing Brittany did was sand these babies down and then paint them a beautiful turquoise color by Sherwin Williams called Refresh. She said, "It’s the perfect accent color for her green walls and colorful fabrics." Once her dresser and nightstand were painted, she decided to add a little pop. Brittany fell in love with the Flora Damask Stencil, a sophisticated damask pattern. She used blue painter's tape to hold the stencil in place and a dense foam roller to paint the pattern. Brittany chose to paint the damask design in a sweet shade of pink, Ballet Slipper by Glidden. Presto chango, bet you would never guess this was the same garage sale find from the before shot! Doesn't the painted and stenciled furniture look perfect in this little girl's bedroom? Brittany adds, "So that’s all folks! A little elbow grease helped me create the perfect custom pieces for my daughter’s big girl room."
