Stencil Patterns Give Beat Up Furniture, Updated Style

Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends. Upcycling a piece of furniture can be one of the most rewarding and cost-effective DIY decorating projects. Our furniture stencils can easily transform an old piece into a curb-side treasure. Come see how one creative fan gave a beat up chair and mirror a splash of stenciled style. We'd like to welcome back Grace D., a creative Hometalk contributor and Cutting Edge Stencils fan. Grace found an old broken chair and mirror sitting curbside during college moving day. She scooped it up and dreamed of all the possibilities. Here is what the chair looked like after she had removed the padding from the top: The little chair was beat up so Grace filled the holes with wood putty. Then she sanded it down and fixed it where it was broken. Now her little chair/stool was ready to be painted! Grace decided to paint the chair using Benjamin Moore paint in Simply White. She had previously used our French Poem Craft Stencil on a dresser. This popular French typography-inspired pattern is perfect for crafting DIY furniture projects. Grace loved classy style that the typeface pattern added to her dresser and decided to use it on this chair. With her stencil in hand, she was ready to start stenciling! She placed the craft stencil on top of the chair. She used blue painters tape to hold it in place. Then she painted the pattern with a dense foam roller using gray craft paint. This stencil fit perfectly on her chair. If you are recreating this project at home, be sure to roll off any excess paint onto a piece of paper towel. Too much paint will cause the design to blee. Grace lifted the stencil to reveal her pretty pattern. To protect her project, Grace applied applied a coat of wax and buffed it. Then she moved onto painting the mirror that she had also found at the curb. She had this to say about her stencil project,"This will stay in our bedroom. I am redoing our humble house literally one corner at a time" We absolutely love this curbside transformation. It's amazing how Grace was able to take two old pieces of furniture and turn them into a shabby chic treasure with a fresh coat of paint and a pretty stencil pattern.
