A Stenciled Dog House Using the Nagoya Craft Stencil

We'd like to introduce Ashley, the DIY super star behind the blog
Domestic Imperfection. Ashely had this really ugly end table from the 70's that was in dire need of a makeover.
See we told you it was ugly! Ashley agreed that it needed a makeover but she didn't have a clear plan, so it was sitting on her porch. Then one day her sister-in-law mentioned needing an end table. Ashley jumped at the chance to revive this piece and give it a new home. As she was sanding it, her little guy climbed inside.
That's when it hit her that this would be the perfect dog house! The new direction of the project brought about an increase in excitement. After it was sanded, she painted the table a turquoise, Behr's Hallowed Hush and then she painted the inside a light tan, Behr's Gobi Desert.
Next it came time for a stencil. Ashley had won our
Nagoya Craft Stencil in a giveaway and was eager to test it out. First, she taped off a border using painters tape.
Then she positioned the craft stencil on the top of the table and used a bit of painters tape to hold it in place. If you're trying to recreate this, pour your paint onto a plate or paint tray. Ashely used Behr's Gobi Desert to paint the pattern. Dip your dense foam roller into the paint. Roll off the excess paint onto your folded paper towel until the roller looks almost dry. The key to stenciling is using as little paint as possible. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed and smudge. Next you will paint the design onto the table with the dense foam roller. Once the pattern is complete, you'll need to reposition the stencil to complete the design. Simply pick up the stencil, align it, and continue painting the pattern.
Ashely finished off the table turned dog house with a coat of of
polycrylic and tossed her pups bed inside. Voila, here is her stenciled dog house!
