Let's talk Stenciling Vintage Chic... I'm sure you've noticed this home decor trend. Whether you choose to call it Vintage Chic or Shabby Chic, its been defined as where furniture is chosen because it appears to have signs of wear and tear or where new items are distressed to achieve the appearance of an antique look. Then add a stencil to it and you have Stenciled Vintage Chic. Let's take a look at some stunning examples and you can let us know what you think.
I want you meet Melody, the crafty home decor enthusiast behind the blog My Passion For Decor. Melody lusted over a French Provincial dresser that she had once had as a child. Once she found the piece, it unfortunately sat in her garage for a year! In a desperate attempt to clean out the garage, she discovered this gorgeous piece. She put her diy thinking cap on and decided it was time to paint it with Annie Sloan French White and coated it with the Annie Sloan wax. After it was painted, it still needed something else. Out came her recently purchased Zamira Allover Stencil and some Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Aubusson Blue. She then distressed the dresser using a bit of sand paper to give it that vintage chic look. And TA-DA!! Melody says, "I think it's beautiful now. The contrast between the three colors, the stencil combined with the curves of the dresser and the drawer hardware all work together. " We love this look, don't YOU?
Next I want you see a piece that was sent to us by one of our Facebook fans, Cathie. She used her all time favorite stencil, the Antico Allover on her waterfall dresser. First she buttered the drawer with a little woodicing and then laid a slightly dampened piece of lace table cloth over the drawer. Using a trowel, she placed woodicing through a piece of lace and then immediately pulled it off. After it was dry she then sanded down any rough spots. Cathie applied a coat of her Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White to the dresser. Then she stenciled in the Antico design with the Annie Sloan Provence and a clear coat of wan to finish it off! VOILA! You have this gorgeous vintage chenille like piece.
Oh, and I can't forget this dresser that was done by our friend Meghan over at Something Painted. Meghan crafted this vintage chic, beautiful dresser using CeCe Caldwell paints in Simply White and Pittsburgh Grey. She then used the Lily Scroll Stencil in Aluminum Mica Wax. Meghan added some new hardware and a touch of applique to finish this piece off and give it the final touch of AWESOME! What do you think, do you love it as much as we do?
