A Tribal Arrows Stenciled Boys Bedroom
Stencils Add Rustic Charm To A Boys Bedroom
Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils fans! When the day finally comes to update your child's room from a nursery to a kid's room, the transition can be bittersweet. They truly grow up so fast and sometimes your little bundle is not so little anymore. While he has been mastering the art of walking, talking and basically running the show, he's also outgrown is his nursery decor. Wall stencils are a great way transition his space because they add pattern and personality. Today we're excited to share a rustic stenciled boys bedroom that is a complete bulls-eye in our book.
We'd like to welcome back Laura, the design enthusiast and avid DIYer behind Pear Design Studio. Laura was contacted by a parent who was looking to give her son's nursery a makeover. Here is the space: Laura said, "As much as we are a sucker for turquoise, this nursery needed a good change." She wanted a bedroom that was relatively neutral with colorful accents and a theme that could grow with the little guy. Laura took the lead and decided a rustic themed boys room would be perfect! She decided to paint an accent wall behind the bed. First she painted the back wall white, similar to Benjamin Moore's simply white OC-117. Then selected a popular arrow motif, the Tribal Arrows Allover Stencil, to paint on the accent wall. She used blue painters tape to adhere the stencil to the wall and painted the tribal pattern using a color similar to Benjamin Moore's chelsea gray HC-168. She poured her paint into a paper plate and painted the pattern using a dense foam roller. After each section was painted, she would reposition the stencil to paint the next section. She did this until the entire accent wall was painted. Once the stencil was complete, Laura painted the remaining three walls using the same medium tone gray. Then she was ready to accessorize the room with reclaimed wood features and touches of orange. Ready to see how this rustic little boy's room turned out? Here is a close-up of the arrow stencil pattern. Laura had this to say about her stencil project, "Oh...and the arrow accent wall, is to die for! This space has a timeless feel to carry this guy into his teenage years." Laura custom made the reclaimed wood shelf and headboard to accentuate the rustic feeling in this room.
