Welcome back, my DIY friends. Cutting Edge Stencils wants to kick off the week by sharing some inspirational eye-candy. As you may know, we are hopeless romantics who just love the rustic, earthy look that brick can bring to a space. Faux brick patterns, like our Brick Allover pattern, that emulate the real thing are all the rage. We're sure you saw last week's Brick stenciled hallway, right? Then you are going to love today's project. Come check it out...

We'd like to introduce Cat, the creative DIYer behind the blog Pocketful of Posies. Cat knew that she wanted to give her bedroom a makeover to include a feature wall. Here is what her bedroom looked like before and the arrow shows which wall she planned to accent. A master bedroom before the makeover. http://www.cuttingedgestencils.com/products/bricks-stencil-allover-pattern-stencils While out to dinner one night at a local restaurant, Cat found her inspiration. The popular eatery resides in an administrative building that was once a 1900's Brewery. It features lightly whitewashed bricks in soft colored hues and warm wood accents. It's the perfect combination of rustic and romantic making it absolutely beautiful. Cat felt inspired and she selected our Bricks Allover Stencil to make her vision a reality. She said, "I had a vision of perfectly whitewashed bricks where the white was so light that the original character in the brick was still visible underneath." To kick off her project she started by painting her wall using a homemade chalk paint in the color Bay Sands (Valspar). Cat provides the recipe for her homemade chalk paint here. The homemade chalk paint gave the wall a gritty consistency which was perfect for a grout look. Then she was ready to stencil. Cat taped the stencil to the wall using painter's tape. To ensure the stencil lined up properly on the wall she used a Clip-on Stencil Level. She painted the brick pattern using a stencil brush in several Valspar colors, Tagsale Linen, Shoreline Haze, Subtle Peach, Fairmont Penthouse Stone, Jekyll Grand Dining Sea Mist, Bleached Shadow, Lincoln White Sash, and Mark Twain Gray Brick. Are you ready to see how it all turned out because we're about to share the big reveal! Here is Cat's newly stenciled bedroom accent wall.
