Stenciling An Accent Wall in Your Home Gym Can Provide Appeal and Motivation
Welcome to Monday, my DIY fitness friends! Just last week Cutting Edge Stencils shared some gorgeous yet functional entryways to inspire those who resolved to become more organized in the New Year. Organization is always a hot topic in January but can you think of another popular New Year's resolution? Put down the pretzels. We saw you eating them! Getting fit, losing weight, working out, and eating healthy always seem to make the top resolution lists. And while we can't personally deliver healthy and nutritious meals to your door each day, we can help you create a motivational workout area. Whether you have an entire room dedicated to exercising or just a portion of a spare room, you'll be more likely to spend time in a well designed space than in a cluttered mess! Don't believe us? Take a look at these stenciled gyms and then tell us what you think...
We'd like you to meet Sarah, the clever DIYer behind the blog Belly Babbles. When her husband, Steve, asked her what she wanted for her 30th birthday and Christmas, she told him that she wanted a home gym makeover. In the past, she had gone daily to the YMCA but an illness had put an end to that and she missed her daily gym routine. They were fortunate to already have an elliptical machine, a few workout DVDs, and some hand weights. The room that housed them was not so fortunate. It was dusty, dated and housed a massive 10 year old TV. Sarah found inspiration for her home gym makeover on Pinterest. Check out this room from Factory Direct Blinds. The pattern on that accent wall kind of looks like our Rabat Stencil, right?
Does this space have you enthused about working out? Well it got Sarah moving and shaking on her home gym project. She started with four white walls. On two of the walls she stenciled our Marrakech Trellis pattern in a color similar to Benjamin Moore's calypso orange 2015-30. Then she painted an entire wall in the energetic orange hue. They purchased a new flat screen TV for the remaining white wall and a new book case to hold various workout materials. Sarah has already completed three workouts in her new space and she says, "I love our new space SO much." We love stories like this and we're happy to see that 2014 is off to a healthy start! Now if you don't have a whole basement to dedicate to working out, we have a fan project that's right up your alley. Meet our fab fan, Timothy. He combined his home gym and office into one awesome looking space. Timothy painted the whole room a color similar to Benjamin Moore amsterdam AF-550. Then he stenciled the Connection Allover Stencil in a color similar to newburg green HC-158. The result is a fabulous room where he can work and sweat all at the same time. Way to go, Timothy! If you like exercising outside the home or you don't quite have the space to create your own home gym then you'll want to find a gym like Boise Fitness Factory. Owner and DIY stencil fan, Charity, stenciled an accent wall in the center of her gym to inspire and motivate her members. She used our Marrakech Trellis Stencil in a black and white color combination. Here she is working through the stencil process. And here is the completed accent wall in the Boise Fitness Factory. We think it's totally awe-inspiring!Do you have a home gym and if so, have you considered stenciling an accent wall? Leave us a comment below!
