Stenciled Color Obsession: Lilac
Cutting Edge Stencils Shares Stenciled Lilac Home Decor and Room Ideas
Good morning, my color enthusiasts! We love stenciling in color here at
Cutting Edge Stencils, and one our most recent color obsessions is lilac. This sweet shade of purple has long been a favorite color of tween girls but is growing up before our eyes. Don't get us wrong, it's a great paint color for the transition from little girl to grown-up, but this soft purple is also the perfect choice for many adult spaces. In fact, this soothing hue can be especially fresh and sophisticated in a home when given the right stenciled treatment.
Autumn weather might be here but lilacs are still in full bloom in home decor! Take this roundup of lilac home decor items found on
House Beautiful as a blossoming example. We think these items are pretty glamorous!

Lilac Stenciled Rooms and Home Decor
Just like we mentioned above, lilac can be one of the sweetest shades of purple, which is why it's often used in nurseries and little girls' rooms.
Cathy Green Interiors nailed this look using a shade similar to Benjamin Moore's
violet pearl 1451 and our
Rabat Allover Stencil. Super adorable!
Let's not limit this lovely shade to just little girls' bedrooms. This popular hue can look oh-so glamorous when it's mixed with deeper shades of itself like, violet or eggplant. Take this dining room shown below, as the perfect example. It was sent to us by Chelsea, one of our stenciling fans. She painted an accent wall in her dining room a hue similar to Benjamin Moore's
violetta AF-615. Then she stenciled the wall using our
Acacia Allover leaf pattern in a darker purple, like
pinch of spice 1449.
Are you loving the purple on purple trend like we are? We thought you would! Get ready to be WOW'd by how the purple hues in the next space create a deep, rich look that is both welcoming and glamorous. Jessica, a stencil fan, sent us this image of her dining room using the
Verde Damask Stencil in a color similar to
lilac hush CSP490. She said, " The results were amazing!!!” We agree that it looks pretty amazing!
We can tell that Laura, the blogger behind
Whimsical Perspective, fully embraces the color lilac, based on her stenciled porch floor. To get this lovely look, she stenciled our lace-like
Charlotte Allover pattern using
Sherwin Williams Duration Exterior Paint (satin finish) in Ash Violet and Eggwhite. So pretty!
Are you not quite ready to stencil lilac on your walls or floor? We totally understand and that's why we love the idea of painting a dresser in the pretty purple hue. Artistic Home Studio and Boutique painted an old dresser using a color similar to Benjamin Moore's
wild orchid 2072-40. Then they stenciled the feminine
Lily Scroll craft pattern in a stylish metallic like
FolkArt's Aluminum.
Or better yet, compliment your space with a more subtle hint of lilac just like Roeshel, from the
DIY Showoff. Using our
Allium Gladiator stencil in a hue similar to Benjamin Moore's
misty lilac 2071-70, she painted a decorative window frame for her powder room. We love its faint purple glow! BTW, she gives you the complete deets on how to craft this clever window frame on her
blog.
Do you have a color obsession with lilac also? We'd love to read your thoughts in the comments below.
