We'd like to introduce to you Kristin, the design enthusiast and DIYer behind the blog Why Live in a Boring House. Kristin admits, "I fell in love with the idea of putting multi-colored graphical statements into rooms via wallpaper that would look anything but boring. But this trend is not only messy by nature but can also be expensive." We totally agree. The good news is that Kristin stumbled upon Cutting Edge Stencils. She took a good look around her dining room and decided it was time for a makeover. The dining room walls were a dark eggplant and Kristin wanted to add a gold accent. She purchased the
Casablanca Allover Stencil, our popular Moroccan wall pattern. Kristin used blue painters tape to hold the stencil in place while she painted the pattern on the wall using a dense foam roller. She stenciled the Moroccan design using Martha Stewart Gold Metallic from Home Depot. Once it was complete Kristin said, "I love it so much. I also loved it so much, I decided to buy a second stencil for my master bedroom..."
With the dining room makeover complete, Kristin was ready to tackle another room makeover. Her master bedroom has a pitched ceiling which made for one really large, empty wall opposite her balcony windows. She felt a stenciled pattern would add drama and interest to the bland wall. This time Kristin selected the
Rio Allover Stencil, a geometric pattern that was inspired by the traditional art of tribal Shipibo Indians from the Amazon basin. She fell in love with this pattern instantly and was anxious to paint it on her wall. The bedroom was already painted a light blue hue. To keep the calm, serene tone of the space, Kristin chose to paint the pattern in Martha Stewart light brown. She used blue painters tape to hold the stencil in place while she painted the pattern on the wall using a dense foam roller. Once it was complete, she stepped back and took a look at her newly stenciled bedroom. She said, "It really transformed the room."
