A Farmhouse Fireplace Makeover Using Stencils
Wall Stencils Can Add A Faux Tile Look To A Fireplace
Good morning, my
Cutting Edge Stencils friends! Is your fireplace looking dated and dingy? We thought so. Our
tile stencils are an easy and cost effective way to give an old fireplace a fresh new look. Simply choose a coordinating paint color and your favorite
tile stencils to update your fireplace. Today we’re going to share a fireplace hearth makeover painted with our
Augusta Tile Pattern. Come take a look...
We'd like to introduce Amanda, the creative DIYer and blogger for
Behind the Aqua Door. Amanda recently started her home renovation blog so she could document all of her creative DIY projects around her home. One of her recent projects included her fireplace hearth. Here is what it looked like before:
Amanda mentioned that the brick surrounding the fireplace had been painted white when she purchased the home. She had white washed the brick tile hearth but it had started to peel after years of use. Replacing the hearth completely was not an option so Amanda turned to Pinterest for DIY ideas. That's when she discovered our amazing
Tile Stencil Collection! She browsed our large collection of
tile patterns and selected our
Augusta Tile Stencil. This beautiful pattern was inspired by traditional Portuguese Azulejos tile designs.
The first thing Amanda did was clean the hearth to ensure there wasn't any debris and then she prepped and painted it using white chalk paint. Cleaning and prepping a hearth properly is very important for a project like this. With her stencil in hand, she was ready to start
stenciling!
She used blue painters tape to hold the stencil in place and a dense foam roller to paint the pattern in black. After each section was complete, Amanda would un-tape the stencil and reposition so she could paint the entire fireplace hearth.
Once the space was stenciled, Amanda applied a polyacrylic sealer to increase durability. Are you ready to see how her project turned out? Here is Amanda's newly stenciled fireplace!
We think she did an amazing job transforming the fireplace and to prove our point, here is a before and after photo. Amanda posted, " I am extremely happy with the results."
