Stencils Can Help To Easily Create An Outdoor Rug

Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends! Are you looking to enhance your outdoor space? It's easy to add interest to a patio, a porch, or any outdoor space with a pretty hand-painted rug. Our tile stencils are an easy and affordable way to create a custom outdoor rug. Today we’re going to share a stenciled rug that was painted with our Augusta Tile Pattern. Come take a look... We'd like to introduce Becky, a home decor enthusiast and the creative DIYer behind The Other Side of Neutral. About two years ago, Becky redesigned her backyard space. She had painted a striped rug on her deck under her farmhouse table. Here is what it looked like before: As you can see her backyard space was gorgeous. The painted rug seemed to be holding up to the natural elements but Becky was ready for an update. She had spotted the patterned cement tile trend and had fallen in love. That's when Becky discovered our amazing Tile Stencil Collection. It was love at first sight for this DIY queen. She browsed our large collection of tile patterns and selected our Augusta Tile Stencil in a size large. This beautiful pattern was inspired by traditional Portuguese Azulejos tile designs. The first thing Becky did was clean the deck by power washing it. Cleaning and prepping a deck properly is very important for a project like this. Then she painted the railings using Minwax Gel stain in Hickory and Stormy Gray for the base. Once that was dry Becky was ready to move onto the fun part, stenciling! She used blue painters tape to hold the stencil in place and a dense foam roller to paint the pattern in white. After each section was complete, Becky would un-tape the stencil and reposition so she could paint the section of deck. Becky spaced the 12 inch tile pattern across the deck to meet her needs. She let the paint dry and then placed her furniture back in place. Are you ready to see how her mini backyard makeover turned out? Here is Becky's newly stenciled outdoor rug!
