Learn How To Stencil Wall Art Using Alphabet Stencils
A Stenciled Nursery Sign Using Alphabet Stencils
Good morning, my DIY friends. Whether you're planning a nursery for yourself or helping out a friend, those bare walls can be an unwelcome sight. We, at
Cutting Edge Stencils, feel that stencils can greatly enhance a nursery and it doesn't always mean you have to paint an accent wall. Ashley, the DIY queen behind the blog
Domestic Imperfection, decided to create a stenciled nursery sign and we've got the project deets! Let's take a look...
Ashley recently shared a DIY project that she completed for her sister-in-law. Her sister-in-law had a beautiful baby boy named Chandler not too long ago. Chandler also has an older sister named Mallory. When Mallory was born, Ashley the proud Aunt, created this beautiful wall art for her nursery using reclaimed wood and buttons.
Adorable, right? You can find that
tutorial here. Well Ashley felt that it was only right for her to create a piece of name art for her brand new nephew but this time buttons weren't going to work. Luckily, we launched our new line of
Alphabet Stencils just in time. This new collection of stencils features the alphabet in thirteen of our most popular patterns. They also come in three sizes 8 inches, 12 inches, and 18 inches. Ashley ordered the 12 inch letters in a variety of patterns to spell out 'Chandler' and then got to work.
First she grabbed a piece of plywood from her garage and painted it Sherwin William's Grays Harbor.
Once the paint was dry, she was ready to stencil. Ashley placed the letter stencils across the wood panel and used painters tape to hold them in place.
After all the stencils were in place, Ashley started painting the pretty pattern using yellow acrylic craft paint and a stencil brush.
First we're going to show you the amazing name sign that Ashely created and then we'll tell you about a little predicament she's in. Here it is folks, the newly stenciled nursery sign!
Sweet yet stylish, we love it! Here's the deal, Ashley used the 12 inch letters and the sign ended up being about 8 feet long. Ashley had hoped it would be closer to six because she wanted to build a frame around it. Even though her sister-in-law loved it, saying "It'll be a focal point on the wall," Ashley feels compelled to go back and try it again with the 8 inch letter stencils. So be on the look out because we will surely be featuring her second nursery sign.
