Stenciling Rustic Wall Art

Make Rustic Wall Art Using Stencil Designs And Barnwood!

Welcome back, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends. Rustic is an affordable style that will add great character and warmth to your home. There's no need to spend mega amounts of money to introduce this trendy decor style into your home. All you need is paint, a stencil pattern and some old barnwood or a wooden pallet. Reclaimed wood has rustic charm and quite often you can secure old wood for free. Today we're sharing how one creative blogger used old barnwood and our Kerala Allover Stencil to craft rustic wall art. Let's take a look. For a long time Kimm has placed framed pictures of her children above the couch in her living room. She loved her family pictures but she was ready for a change. While searching for something new, Kimm realized she prefers graphic patterns over landscapes. That's when she decided to take matters into her own hands and craft her own DIY wall art using paint and a stencil pattern. Kimm had some barnwood in the garage that she used for this project. She browsed our large collection of stencil patterns on our website and selected a beautiful Geometric pattern, the Kerala Allover Stencil. This majestic pattern was inspired by a trip to India and can instantly add flare to any DIY project. The Kerala Allover Stencil, a geometric Indian inspired wall pattern, from Cutting Edge Stencils. http://www.cuttingedgestencils.com/products/kerala-indian-stencil-geometric-pattern-stencils First, Kimm painted the barnwood using Berh's Polar Bear, a pretty white hue. Then Kimm carefully taped the stencil down using blue painter's tape. She painted the Indian stencil pattern in Cracked Pepper by Behr using a dense foam roller. She made sure she brushed off any excess paint on a piece of paper towel. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed. After each section of the wood was painted, she would carefully remove the stencil. Then Kimm would reposition the stencil until the entire wood canvas was stenciled. Once the entire piece of wood was stenciled, Kimm stepped back to admire her beautiful work.
