A Global, Eclectic Room Makeover Using Stencils
Stencils Add Global Eclectic Style To A Room Makeover
Welcome back, my
Cutting Edge Stencils friends! Adding personal style can be as simple as painting your favorite wall pattern. From the most boastful motif to the subtlest pattern,
wall stencils makes a design statement. Today we're going to share a living room/entryway makeover that used
stencils to add a global, eclectic style. Let’s take a look...
We'd like you to welcome back Stephanie, the DIY decorating enthusiast behind the blog
Casa Watkins. Stephanie signed up to participate in a project called the One Room Challenge which was designed by Linda from
Calling it Home. The purpose of the fun challenge was to have DIY bloggers put their creativity, perseverance and patience to test by completing a room makeover in six short weeks. Stephanie's goal was to makeover her formal living room/entryway to better fit her personal style. Her formal living is connected to the entryway and is the first visible space upon entering the home. She wanted to complete DIY projects that would make this space speak to her global, eclectic style. Here is the room she started with...
Stephanie had quite a project ahead of her and only six short weeks to complete it. She had a laundry list of DIY projects bubbling in her head so the first thing she did was put together a design board.
Once she had a color scheme in mind, she was ready to kick off her living room/entryway project. She painted both spaces in Versatile Gray by Sherwin Williams because it's a soothing gray that pairs well with everything. You may have already noticed that her design board included our
Sophia Trellis Allover Stencil, a beautiful Moroccan inspired pattern. She also included a
Leopard Skin Accent Pillow kit and a
Wild Berry Damask Accent Pillow kit.
She chose to paint the pattern on an accent wall in her entryway. She painted the pretty trellis design in a shade of green similar to Benjamin Moore's
Pleasant Grove 552. She used blue painters tape to hold the stencil in place on the wall. Then she poured her paint into a small tray and painted with a dense foam roller. Once the stencil was complete, Stephanie completed the makeover with several DIY projects. You can read about the details of her
One Room Challenge on her blog. Ready to see her stenciled entryway accent wall turned out?
To accentuate her space, Stephanie chose to stencil her own accent pillows. This allowed her to select her favorite patterns and choose coordinating colors. Stephanie painted the
Wild Berry Damask pattern in ruby red on a white pillow cover. For the
Leopard Skin pattern she took a walk on the wild side and painted the white cover in turquoise.
Stephanie had this to say about her stencil project, "I am super thrilled with the results!" We're happy to hear that because we think her makeover is gorgeous!
