A Budget Friendly Family Room Makeover With Harlequin Trellis Stenciled Curtains

Good morning, my DIY friends! January tends to be a time where we like to start fresh and get organized. Cutting Edge Stencils believes that the best place to start with these goals is within the home. If your family room is in need of a major makeover then you're going to enjoy today's inspiration. Come take a look! We'd like you to meet Genevieve, the interior design student and DIYer behind Turned to Design. Genevieve wanted to give her Mom's family room a makeover. She said, "The goal was to create a comfortable, organized, and, of course, pretty space on a budget for mom to watch TV, go through mail, fold laundry, play with kitties, and generally hang out. A lot of living happens in here!" Here a before picture of the family room. The first thing Genevieve did was paint the room Behr's Toasted Wheat, a warm and cozy neutral. Next she wanted to dress up the sliding glass door with patterned curtains. Genevieve searched high and low for a pattern that she liked, worked with the space, and fit within the budget. It was a quest that was not easy so she put her DIY hat on and decided to stencil a set of curtains. Stenciling is a great way to get the look you want for a lot less. She bought white tab top curtain panels from Ikea and our Harlequin Trellis Allover Stencil. After laying the curtains flat on the floor, Genevieve used a dense foam roller to paint the pattern in black. After the stenciled curtains were dry, Genevieve hung them in the family room. Then she added the final decorating touches which included a gallery wall and transforming Ikea side tables into an ottoman. Ready to see how the family room makeover turned out?
