Today we’re going to share a studio floor makeover that was enhanced with our Augusta Tile Stencil. Come take a look... We'd like to introduce Kippi Lee Leonard, an Artist, an Interior Designer in the Washington area, and a Cutting Edge Stencils fan. Kippi is renovating her 1942 home with one DIY project at a time. One of the spaces that she was updating was her soon-to-be art studio. Here is what it looked like: Kippi disliked the dirty looking carpet so she tore it up and revealed a dated tile. Since she couldn't afford to rip it up and replace it, she chose to DIY a new look. Kippi had stumbled upon a stenciled floor project and decided to attempt. She browsed our large collection of tile stencils and selected our Augusta Tile Pattern. This beautiful pattern is based on traditional Portuguese Azulejos tile designs and has become very popular. The first thing Kippi did was clean her floor to ensure there wasn't any debris and then she painted two coats of paint in black. With her stencil in hand, she was ready to start stenciling! She used blue painters tape to hold the stencil in place and a dense foam roller to paint the pattern in white. After each section was complete, Kippi would un-tape the stencil and reposition so she could paint the entire floor. Once the stencil was complete, she coated the floor with a polycrylic sealer to increase durability. Are you ready for the big reveal? Here is a gorgeous stenciled floor in her new art space. Kippi had this to say about her project, "I can't quit photographing it. What a transformation!!! I can't wait to create in this space."
