Cutting Edge Stencils shares DIY stenciled accent pillow using the Fish School Paint-A-Pillow stencil kit. http://paintapillow.com/index.php/fish-school-paint-a-pillow-kit.html We'd like to introduce Liz, the passionate crafter and DIYer behind the blog Smart Girls DIY. Liz has a big renovation project going on and it has left her with very little time to craft lately. Needless to say she was super excited to try Paint-A-Pillow and spend some time crafting again. Liz browsed the large selection of patterns on our website and selected the Fish School Paint-A-Pillow. She said, "I figured it was beachy without being over the top beachy." Along with the kit, she ordered a white pillow cover, a natural pillow cover, and several Jacquard fabric paints. Here is a sneak peek at what she created: A DIY stenciled accent pillow using the Fish School Paint-A-Pillow stencil kit. http://paintapillow.com/index.php/fish-school-paint-a-pillow-kit.html We love accent pillows that have a fun fish pattern and bright colors! Do you love them too? If the answer is yes then stick around because we're going to show you how to recreate this project. Liz opened her Paint-A-Pillow box and was happy to see it came with all of the supplies she needed. She commented, "I was surprised (and happy) to find the pillow cover had the perfect size piece of cardboard already inside it, and was mounted to the stencil frame, with the stencil secured in place on top. It was ready to go!" Then she dipped her stencil brush in the paint. She was careful to not overload the brush because this would cause the paint to bleed under the stencil. After the turquoise fish were painted, she painted the remaining fish in emerald green, yellow ochre, and neutral gray. Then she was ready to paint her second pillow. For the second pillow, she chose to paint all the fish blue, except the one swimming the opposite direction, using a dense foam roller. She covered the one fish swimming upstream with tape and then painted it with a stencil brush in yellow.
