Good Morning, my stencil lovin' mamas and papas! With all the recent press about wall stencils, we've been as giddy as a schoolgirl lately! I'm sure you saw our Zamira Stencil cameo on HGTV's Power Broker premiere, right? As we skipped around full of glee, we were over the moon thrilled to find out that Cutting Edge Stencils had another stencil feature in the July issue of Land of the Nod. We love Land of the Nod! We're going to hop, skip and jump over to a playroom project that was done by Mary , an amazing DIYer from the blog The Heff's Family Blog. Mary had dreamed of turning an empty space into a play area for her girls. One weekend, while her husband the kids were away she grabbed her paint brush and got started. Mary is a huge Land of the Nod fan and previously spotted one of our stencils painted by Raechel Myers in a Winter issue (see Raechel's little girls room here). She ordered the Tribe Stencil which ia a trendy take on the traditional chevron pattern. Then selected colors based on her Land of the Nod rug that she planned to use in the playroom. That's when it all came together! Mary's pieces fell into place as she combined her bright paint colors and a cheerful, zig-zag stencil- Tribe Allover Pattern. With that combination, she completely transformed her playroom into something spectacular! Here is Mary is working through the stenciling process. First she tested her stenciling technique on cardboard. This helped her not only choose the right color scheme of her stripe but also get a feel for using the stencil. Once this was perfected, she was ready to go on the wall! Mary says, "We quickly realized a stripe across the room was going to be way better than the entire wall." Ahh-Mazing!! I don't know about you but I love the texture and depth that this eye-catching pattern brings to this brightly colored playroom wall!! The bright bold pink, blue, and white stencil design completely transforms the old space into the most awesome play area for kids! Mary wanted bright and cheerful and I would say she definitely achieved the looks she was going after. To get this look consider using Benjamin Moore's blushing red 2079-20 as a base wall color. Then stencil using saratoga springs 1669, crystalline AF-486, gardenia AF-10, and candy stripe 2079-70. This super sweet color combination adds the perfect playful appeal to a fun space like this. Complete the look like Mary did with accents from the Land of Nod. The outcome is a bright and cheerful play space!
