A Banana Leaf Stenciled Side Table

Cutting Edge Stencils friends. Have you been crushing on the Banana Leaf
stencil pattern that seems to be popping up in home decor stores lately? If this leafy print makes your heart go pitter-patter then we have the perfect project to help you introduce this iconic pattern into your home. We're excited to share a quick and easy side table project using the
Banana Leaf Stencil that is sure to inspire. Come take a look...
We'd like to welcome back Anam, the creative DIYer and furniture makeover queen behind the blog
Delicious and DIY. Anam loves all things DIY and her blog is a little gem for furniture makeover projects. She had this little side table that she had picked up at a local thrift store. Here is what it looked like before.
The thrift store find was in pretty good shape but it was bland. If anyone can infuse a piece of furniture with personality, it's Anam! She said, "I’ve been seeing Banana Leaf patterns in a lot of cafes in LA and I am in love with how bright and cheery it looks!" So when she spotted our new
Banana Leaf Allover Stencil it was love at first sight. The tropical pattern was inspired by trendy Martinique Wallpaper.
Anam grabbed two green paint hues for this project and painted the top of the table a lighter green than the bottom. You can read all about her furniture painting process on her
blog but we're doing to focus on the fun part,
stenciling! She positioned the
Banana Leaf pattern on the front of the newly painted side table and painted the pattern in the darker green.
If you're trying to recreate this, pour your paint onto a plate or paint tray. Dip your stencil brush into the paint. Brush off the excess paint onto your folded paper towel until the brush looks almost dry. The key to stenciling is using as little paint as possible. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed and smudge. Painter's tape can help hold the stencil in place.
When the stenciling was complete, Anam attached gold pull handles to the side table. Are you ready to see how it turned out? Here is her Banana Leaf stenciled side table!
We absolutely love how Anam's painted table turned out! She said, "The table turned out exactly how I wanted."
