Welcome back, my stencil fans! The
Cutting Edge Stencils blog is going on a bit of hiatus until 2015. Yikes, sounds like a scary thought until you realize that the new year is only about a week away. During this break we hope to spend a little extra time with our family and friends. Before we kick back and pass out the eggnog, we thought we'd take a stroll down memory lane. 2014 was a great year for Cutting Edge Stencils. We launched several NEW stencil collections, kicked off our sister company Paint-A-Pillow, and we've had the honor of spotting our stencils in major home decor magazines. We owe it all to you, our fabulous and loyal fans, who continue to support us. We can't begin to thank you enough and we look forward to a stencil-filled 2015!
Let's take a look at our 10 favorite projects of 2014...
10. Refresh Your Master Bedroom With A Stencil:
Let's kick off this countdown with a bang! We absolutely adore this luxurious bedroom painted by Pamela, the interior designer behind PTB Designs. She painted her space Benjamin Moore’s niveous OC-30 and then stenciled it in silver using our
Entwined Allover Stencil. Sophisticated and chic, we can't get enough!
9. A Chelsea Stecniled Home Office in Dusty Purple:
Do you remember this beauty from earlier this year? Beth, the creative interior designer and home staging guru behind
B. at Home Staging & Design, painted this home office. She selected a 2014 trend color, dusty purple, and chose to stencil an accent wall using our
Chelsea Allover pattern. We would hardly get any work done in this home office because we'd be staring at that pretty wall!
8. Embellish Your Table Decor With A DIY Stenciled Tablecloth
Over the summer we shared a simple DIY project that will totally WOW your guests. A plain white table cloth was transformed using our
Zamira Stencil and sapphire blue paint. The best part about this project is that it's so achievable! Stenciling a table cloth is easy and it's an inexpensive alternative to buying designer table decor. We think we'll see a lot more of these in 2015!
7. HGTV Magazine Highlights The Nagoya Stencil:
This eye-catching bone-inlay inspired dresser was featured in one of our favorite home decor publications,
HGTV Magazine. Kate, from Centsational Girl, recreated the designer bone-inlay look using our
Nagoya Craft stencil and acrylic craft paint. LOVE!
7. Learn How To Stencil A Pretty Patio:
Stenciling cement seems like a growing trend and we firmly believe in it! Jill, one of our creative DIY fans, submitted this pretty painted patio. She stenciled our
Nagoya Allover across her backyard patio using a dark gray paint. You should pin this one so you can come back and complete it later!
5. Stenciling a Textured Wall ~ Yes, It's Possible!:
We get asked this question a lot so it didn't surprise us that this was a popular topic! Textured walls are common especially in newer homes. The texture of the drywall can make stenciling a pattern more challenging although not impossible. Rather than knock them all down, here is the perfect example of a textured accent wall that was stenciled using the
Heritage Grill from

4. Stenciling a DIY Teepee Tent and DIY Otomi Stenciled Bean Bag Chair
Number four was a bit of a tie that proved that stencils can be used for more than just walls. Kristen, from
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot hand crafted this adorable black, white, and mustard gold teepee using our
Little Diamond Allover stencil.
Shelley, the blogger from
Crazy Wonderful switched things up and used our
Otomi Allover stencil to stencil a set of DIY bean bag chairs for her playroom. We love both of these creative ideas!
3. Painting a Carpet with the Antico Stencil
Now here is a stencil project that really swept us off our feet! Sarah, the awesome DIY blogger behind
Sarah's Big Idea decided to give her music room a makeover. Since ripping up the carpet wasn't an option, she decided to paint the carpet using our
Antico Allover Stencil pattern. So if you're completing a budget makeover in 2015, then you might want to consider painting a pretty pattern on your carpet!
2. How to Stencil the Brick Allover Stencil:
From walls to floors, we've spotted brick patterns in all aspects of home decor in 2014. To make painting the popular pattern a little easier, we put together a detailed step-by-step tutorial. So if you love the look and are thinking about using the

1. Introducing Paint-A-Pillow:
And our numero uno project for 2014, drum roll please... is the introduction of our sister company Paint-A-Pillow. It’s an innovative stenciling kit that will allow you to create your own designer accent pillows in a snap. It’s easy, fun and super fast! Sounds pretty cool, right? Take this
