Furniture Stencils Are A Clever Way To Personalize Ikea Furniture
Good morning, my
Cutting Edge Stencils friends. Who doesn't love a great Ikea furniture hack? Paint and a
simple furniture stencil pattern can help customize your favorite Ikea piece. It's also an affordable way to dress up a plain piece of furniture. Come see how one creative fan used furniture stencils to personalize a plain white Ikea table.
We'd like to introduce you to Stacy Davis, a creative Hometalk contributor and Cutting Edge Stencils fan. Stacy had a small white Ikea Hemnes table that she had purchased years ago. It was a great little table that was a little beat up looking but still had life left in it. Since she was working on a room makeover for her daughter, Stacy wanted to freshen up this little table for that space. Here is what the Ikea table looked like before:
The first thing she did was fill in the scratches on the top with wood putty and give it a fresh coat
Valspar Semi Gloss White. Stacy's daughter has a very creative personality so rather than leave it plain white, she chose to add a
furniture pattern. She browsed our large collection of stencils and selected the
Stephanie's Lace Stencil. This
lace stencil pattern is ideal for walls, floors and furniture!
With her stencil in hand Stacy was ready for the fun part,
stenciling! She placed the intricate lace pattern in the center of the table. She used painters tape to hold it in place and a dense foam roller to paint the typography pattern in
DecoArt Americana Decor Chalky Finish in Refreshing.
After each section of the stencil was painted, Stacy would lift the stencil and reposition so she could carry the pattern across the table.
Stacy removed her stencil to reveal the pretty lace pattern. Here is what it looked like:
To protect her project, Stacy added a glass table top. She had this to say about her stencil project,"
I think it will make a stylish bedside table and the glass topper will protect the table top from spills and other mishaps."
We absolutely love this small table makeover. The pretty turquoise hue and our Stephanie's Lace stencil pattern give this simple table a stylish new look.
